We have worked with Villandry Contracting and Fernando Carreiro on several home projects during the past 20 years and have been totally satisfied with every outcome. From a major addition to an attic clean-up to bathroom and kitchen remodels we've been impressed on every project with the one-one attention, responsiveness, overall workmanship and aherence to the highest standards. The Villandry group have always been willing to work with us as customers from conception, design and through construction to be sure that our requests and ideas have been met to our total satisfaction. They stand behind not only their own work, but also that of any subcontractor they use, with a clear message that the customer's satisfcation is paramount to them. I have used Villandry Contracting for 5 different projects over a 15 year period. Projects have ranged from window installation, deck addition, family room finish work, front entrance portico and lastly a total kitchen/ bathroom remodel. I have 100% confidence in the quality of their work, the professionalism of the employees and the fact that they stand by their work. The project ran on time and continuous once started. We are so pleased with our new home. We enjoyed working with you and Fernando your thoughtfulness, creativity and insight proved invaluable. The design you created has been very successful. The space is just what we hoped for. Thanks so much for all of your hard work and support on this project. We would also like you to know that we think Tony did a great job. We truly appreciate all his hard work, especially during those hot summer months when it must have been unbearable to be up on the third floor. Nevertheless, he persevered. He came every day, worked hard, and always cleaned up well at the end of the day. His thoughtfulness and care allowed us to continue living in our house throughout the construction. Tony was a great problem solver. He was always extremely helpful and accommodating. He took the time to answer any of our questions, helping us think through any problems. (We're sure he saved us a lot of trouble and expense by discovering and fixing a leak in one of the bathroom pipes.) No matter how complex or simple our questions might have been, he always responded knowingly and respectively. Clearly, Tony has high standards. He is a skilled craftsman who does excellent work which shows in every aspect of the construction, from the demolition and framing to the finished details. We are impressed by his work ethic as well as his end results. He also worked well with his own crew, always followed through on the subcontractors' work, making sure they, too, met his standards, and kept straight all the hundreds of details that go into a renovation! Finally, we truly enjoyed getting to know Tony. He's friendly, personable, respectful, and thoughtful. We feel fortunate he was the foreman for our renovation. It was a pleasure working with him. Greetings! Wanted to spend a few moments to express our appreciation, admiration and pleasure with the work you did for us on our kitchen, bathroom and bedroom remodel. Having a few weeks to reflect upon the project, the word that most comes to mind about your business is professionalism. In every step of the process, we could clearly see that your employees take pride in being punctual, efficient, and accountable. While one might right a pleasing remodel with many contractors, I believe it's the experience you offer that sets Villandry Contracting apart. Here are a few specifics to illustrate this point: 1) Educating us about the process of a home renovation and giving us resources (kitchen designer Mary Packard and bathroom designer Amy Zuckerman) to translate a universe of options to workable reality. 2) Constructing temporary walls and doorways to block out the dust in our livable space 3) Problem solving with a potentially crippling issue of ice dams and water coming into the house. 4) Sopheak and Rui arriving punctually each day of the week even on MLK and President's Day despite record snowfall this winter. 5) Creativity in removing walls, beams and pipes to create a more aesthetic end result. In closing, I'd like to spend a moment to praise Fernando Carriero for carrying us through this process. Fernando was EXCEPTIONAL! Not only did Fernando skillfully organize and time the project; he was part therapist (for our neurotic and impulsive concerns) and part godfather (mediating just to make things happen). While he did so much for the overall project, we'll mostly remember him for the little things (like running out of the house with the twins as debris fell from the roofer or coming over at 8pm to fiddle with our nonworking heat). We are thrilled with the final product! There are so many things to thank you, Fernando, and the crew for, it's hard to know where to start. But here's some that come to mind: 1) Design sensitivity. You did a great job designing a dormer that maintains the character of our bungalow, and we thank you for this. The biggest compliment we get from people is, Gee, I can't even tell what you added 2) Fabulous workmanship. The new work feels as solid as the original. The subs did fine work, especially the roofer and the plasterers (there were so many nooks and angles in that wacky little room under the gable…). We especially appreciate Fernando and the crew's attention to detail on the stairway and trim. 3) Responsiveness. In a project like this, there's always bound to be surprises that come up along the way – part delays, scheduling issues, etc. We appreciate the way you and Fernando quickly responded to our concerns and would patiently answer my questions we had. 4) Thoughtfulness and professionalism. These words certainly describe you and anyone on your crew. But we'd like to especially single out Fernando as the foreman on the project. He was a pleasure to work with, personally and professionally. He made us feel like he cared about the success of this project as much as we did, down to every last picky detail. He had on-side design suggestions that have greatly increased our enjoyment of the upstairs (e.g., adding skylights, changing the layout in the bathroom, deciding how to lay the tile, or what kind of light fixture to put in the hall). Many times he went above and beyond the call of duty (e.g., salvaging that gumwood banister for us from another project, so it would match the woodwork downstairs). He always treated our house with respect, and he demanded the same from the crew and subs – it wasn't just a jobsite. I have been composing parts of this letter in my mind since the day your company began work on our third floor renovation. Every step of the way it has been a wonderful experience working with you, Fernando and the rest of the crew. Integrity, craftsmanship, professionalism, thoroughness, service, friendliness you epitomize these traits. I want you to know that your business is nearly unique in these times. Lots of people can raise a roof, put up exterior and interior walls, build a balcony, create a bathroom, install windows and skylights and so on (all tasks completed beautifully on this job!). It is the manner in which your people accomplish this work that is extraordinary! Beginning and completing the job on time, showing up for work every day, keeping the worksite (our still occupied home) neat and orderly, checking in with me, responding immediately to questions, concerns, requests, and taking great care with each step of the process…these are (unfortunately) unusual compliments to pay to a construction crew. We feel very fortunate to have had VCI as our builder. Fernando Carreiro is a remarkable young man. He is, first of all, a very skilled craftsman, taking pride in doing a job thoroughly, carefully and with his full attention on each detail. Several of his on-site suggestions, like the conversion to gas heat and the subsequent removal of the chimneys, made all the difference in the new bedrooms. His sensible advice and willingness to discuss each decision with me made this potentially stressful construction phase an actual pleasure. Fernando's professionalism is also noteworthy. His years of experience have developed his insight into all sorts of decisions, from design to construction. He always communicated with me in a helpful and respectful way, offering advice and listening to my ideas and desires. I also observed his interactions with the rest of his crew and with all of the subcontractors and he treated them in the same way. You are indeed lucky to have this talented and loyal man with your company. I have never met anyone who spoke of their construction company and the people that are the construction company with the warmth and gratitude that I feel toward you, Dave, and Fernando and the crew. We feel very blessed to have this beautiful new addition to our home and to have enjoyed our relationship with all of you so thoroughly. You and Fernando have been thoughtful, kind and friendly, especially to our six-year-old daughter, and for this we also thank you. Your personal attention to our project, from going over the 12-page contract with me, line by line, four (or five?) times, through your late night trip to our house when the heat shut down are ample evidence of your integrity and caring. Please do give our names to prospective customers so that we have the opportunity to rave about the quality of VCI's work and the quality of the human beings and relationships behind the work. Sharon and I would be completely remiss if we didn't take a moment to drop a note of thanks for the outstanding work you and your crew put into our kitchen/bathroom remodeling. Many mornings we sit at the new counter smiling at each other, admiring the design and execution of your plan. We love it. This was our first big remodeling effort and we felt you were with us the entire way. You shared our vision of what we wanted, and really helped shape it, giving practical advice and helpful information along the way. Fernando and the crew could not have been more professional and helpful to us. I especially appreciated them giving us daily and weekly status reports, keeping us as informed as possible. Ad when we mentioned we were having a rough time without a washer/dryer, the schedule was changed to accommodate getting them in quicker.
